PM meets Thai Presidents of Privy Council, National Legislative Assembly

VGP - PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc on August 18 met with President of Thailand’s Privy Council Prem Tinsulanonda and President of Thailand’s National Legislative Assembly Pornpetch Wichitcholchai on the occasion of his official visit to Thailand.

At the meeting with the President of Thailand’s Privy Council, PM Phuc spoke highly of the Thai Royal Family’s attention to the advancement of the friendship and multi-faced cooperation with Viet Nam, expressing his thanks to the Royal Family for supporting the Vietnamese community working and living in Thailand.

Mr. Prem Tinsulanonda affirmed that the Thai Royal Family and Government always attach importance to the relationship with Viet Nam, regarding Viet Nam as one of important partners in the region, saying Viet Nam is the only strategic partner of Thailand in ASEAN.

He hailed the two nations’ signing and exchanging of important cooperative documents, expecting that the PM’s official visit to Thailand will help deepen the two nations’ strategic partnership.

The Vietnamese community in Thailand has been made positive contributions to the development of Thailand in general and the relations between Viet Nam and Thailand, in particular, he added.

During the meeting with President of Thailand’s National Legislative Assembly, the Vietnamese PM congratulated Thailand on its new Constitution, expressing his belief that Thailand will successfully organize the upcoming election.

He proposed the two sides’ legislative bodies maintain delegation exchanges and further cooperate in building the ASEAN Community through a number of channels, including the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

The PM suggested the Thai side facilitate import of Vietnamese commodities and encourage Thai investors to pour more investment in Viet Nam.  

Mr. Pornpetch Wichitcholchai said that PM Phuc’s official visit to Thailand will create a new impetus for the bilateral ties, especially in such areas as economy, trade, investment.

He agreed to boost cooperation between the two sides’ legislative bodies in the future and promote the role of their friendship parliamentarian groups./.
