The PM made that statement on May 28 at his meeting with Speaker of the Swedish Parliament Andreas Norlen as part of his official visit to Sweden.

At the meeting, Andreas Norlen welcomed the Vietnamese PM’s first official visit to Sweden since 1999, especially in the context that the two sides have organized politics, economics, culture and education activities to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties.

Phuc expected the two nations’ parliaments to consider establishing Viet Nam-Sweden friendship parliamentary group with a view to boosting the bilateral relationship.

He announced the outcomes of his meeting and talks with the Swedish King and PM, respectively, affirming that the two sides agreed to realize measures to accelerate the bilateral relations more intensively in the spirit of partnership for mutual benefits.

The Vietnamese PM hoped that Speaker of the Swedish Parliament and the Swedish Parliament will continue facilitating the Overseas Vietnamese in Sweden to stabilize their lives and integrate into the local community as well as uphold their bridging role to enhance friendship and connectivity between the two countries.

The Swedish Parliament has advocated and will make efforts to promote the early signing and approval of the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the EU-Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) for the interests of all related sides, confirmed Andreas Norlen.

The signing of these two crucial agreements will create a strong force to boost the economic and trade cooperation between Viet Nam and members in the EU, including Sweden, he added.

The occasion, Phuc conveyed the invitation to visit Viet Nam of Vietnamese National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to Andreas Norlen and the Swedish Speaker of Parliament gladly accepted.
