PM meets Minister-Presidents of Flanders, Wallonie

At the meeting with Minister-President of Flanders Geert Albert Bourgeois, the PM highly spoke of the cooperative relations between Viet Nam and Flanders and projects invested by Flanders in Viet Nam in fields of harbor, harbor logistics and renewable energy, which has made crucial contributions to the relations between Viet Nam and Belgium. 

He proposed Mr. Geert Albert Bourgeois and the Flanders’ authorities facilitate investment and cooperation between the two sides and uphold the bridging role of Flanders in assisting Viet Nam’s products to enter the European and other markets. 

Mr. Geert Bourrgeois asserted that Viet Nam is the top partner of Flanders in Southeast Asia, adding that Flanders expects to double the trade value with Viet Nam and make progress in fields of research, education and training and transport. 

Flanders backs the signing and ratification of the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement, regarding it as a huge opportunity for enhancing trade and investment between Viet Nam and the EU and the country with Flanders. 

After the meeting, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Minister-President of Flanders Geert Albert Bourgeois witnessed the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Flanders’ authority and the Vietnamese Government.

Earlier on October 16, at a working session with Minister-President of Wallonie Willy Borsus, the Vietnamese PM confirmed that Viet Nam attaches importance to the multi-faceted relations with the Belgian community and regions, including Wallonie. 

He highly appraised the two sides’ realization of a number of effective projects in such areas as health care, culture, arts, vocational training, environment, protection of heritage, which have contributed to promoting Viet Nam’s socio-economic development and poverty reduction. 

Viet Nam will create favorable conditions for foreign investors, including those from Belgium and Wallonie to invest and launch operation in Viet Nam. 

Mr. Willy Borsus affirmed that Wallonie always considers Viet Nam as a prioritized partner in the region, sharing potential areas for further cooperation in the upcoming time including agricultural processing and food. 

He asserted that Wallonie’s authority backs the signing and ratification of the EVFTA as well as highly valued the Vietnamese community’s contribution to the development of Belgium.
