PM Phuc conveyed his condolences and sympathies to the President and people of Indonesia over the heavy human losses caused by Palu and Donggala earthquake and tsunami.

According to the PM, right after hearing the information, the Vietnamese Government provided US$ 100,000 for Indonesian people to overcome the natural disasters. He also affirmed that the Government and people of Vietnam will always stand by Indonesia to surmount the difficulties.

PM Phuc congratulated the successful ASEAN Leaders’ Gathering (ALG) and the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) and highly spoke of the speech of President Joko Widodo.

The PM informed that at the recent talks, the two leaders were unanimous in making breakthroughs; converting economic cooperation into a major pillar in the strategic partnership; striving for a US$ 10 billion two-way trade turnover.

Viet Nam, said PM Phuc, is willing to support business activities and resolving emerging issues.

Both sides agreed to early set up an  agency on maritime cooperation; develop fishing and aquatic cultivation and protect fishermen.

In addition, both sides agreed to beef up cooperation in agriculture, human resources development, tourism, and consider launching a direct air route between the two countries.

The two leaders also reiterated their commitment to fostering cooperative chances and build the ASEAN community of unity, innovation, creation, self-reliance, and central role in the region.

PM Phuc was convinced that the strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Indonesia would flourish in the interest of respective people.

In his part, President Joko Widodo recalled his fine impression of the recent meeting between the two leaders.

Mr. Joko Widodo treasured PM Phuc for supporting Indonesian investors in Viet Nam.

The two leaders also agreed to accelerate the operation of the Negotiating Group on economic zones and boost cooperation to prevent illegal fishing./.
