Speaking at the event, the PM said that the protection and promotion of heritages’ value are not only the responsibility of the State but also the tasks of the whole people and community.

The State creates legal frameworks and policies for people to play the key role in protection, maintaining and upholding the value of heritages, he said, adding that socialization is indispensable and necessary.

The Government leader highlighted the necessity to enhance international integration and exchanges in preserving and controlling heritages, especially strictly launching commitments with the UNESCO and other international organizations.

Activities related to heritages must be harmonized within the relations between the present and the past, domestic and foreign ties, localities and ethnic groups, culture and economics and preservation and development to ensure that culture and heritages may connect communities and unity, bring internal strength for the nation and enhance soft power for Viet Nam, he asserted.

In the upcoming time, the PM asked to accelerate supervision and protection works for cultural heritages and intangible cultural heritages to be honored by the UNESCO.

He demanded develop tourism and promote the value of cultural and historical heritages in line with environmental protection.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the nation now has nearly 4,000 heritages ( including 10,000 provincial-level ones, 3,463 national-level ones and  95 special national-level ones), 61,669 intangible cultural heritages, 161 museums, 142 national treasures and more than three million documents and artifacts.

Remarkably, there are eight world cultural and natural heritages, 12 intangible cultural heritages and seven heritages recognized by the UNESCO.
