The signing was held between the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, Novaland Group, the Boston Consulting Group and Military Bank in Can Tho City.

Speaking at the ceremony, the PM stressed that the Mekong Delta region, including 13 localities, is seriously affected by climate change.

The project has manifested the spirit of public and private cooperation and drastic determination of the local authority, investors and consultants in dealing with climate change, he added.

It is necessary to encourage the private sector, not only through sponsor commitments but also the implementation of projects to bring sustainable incomes and livelihood for local people to develop the Mekong Delta, he said.

The PM highlighted initiatives to develop eco-tourism and uphold values of the region and environment.

He applauded Novaland Group to invest US$600-million project in Can Tho City, asking the relevant ministries and agencies to tackle obstacles for the soon realization of the project.

The project aims to launch connection strategy and tourism development for 13 localities in the Mekong Delta, in which Can Tho City plays a central role.

According to Can Tho City’s People’s Committee, the project will help connect and attract more international organizations to support climate change adaption activities, expecting to bring big hard currency revenue and create more than 300,000 jobs for the tourism sector in the region by 2025.
