VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly spoke of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)’s crucial contributions to Viet Nam’s socio-economic development over the recent years, especially infrastructure at his reception for President of the JICA Shinichi Kitaoka on September 14 in Ha Noi.

At the meeting, the PM asserted that Viet Nam always uses and manages the Official Development Assistance (ODA) effectively.

Mr. Shinichi Kitaoka expressed his delight at Viet Nam’s socio-economic development over the past 30 years, which was partially attributed by Japan’s ODA.

JICA has launched a number of cooperation projects with Viet Nam this year, focusing on infrastructure development, improvement of values of the industry and production, environmental protection, climate change and natural disaster combat, and human resources development, he added.

He expressed his hope that the two nations’ ministries and agencies will make efforts in addressing obstacles and difficulties to accelerate the rate of progress of ODA projects.

Regarding Viet Nam-Japan University project, he expected that the Vietnamese Government will support the operation of the university in the time ahead.

The Vietnamese leader proposed JICA provide more ODA for Viet Nam in such areas as high-quality infrastructure, personnel training, climate change response, administrative reform, the utilization of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, business environment improvement, and experience exchange in high-quality agriculture.

He supposed that Viet Nam-Japan University is regarded as a “lighthouse” in the two nations’ relations, agreeing to seek for suitable mechanism for the development of the university.
