PM greets Singapore’s Minister for Home Affairs

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception for Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs and Viet Nam’s Ministry of Public Security Shanmugam on December 6 in Ha Noi.

PM Phuc highlighted the strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Singapore and said that the two countries are expanding cooperation in all areas with Singapore being the third biggest foreign investor in Viet Nam.

Minister Shanmugam revealed that via the visit he hoped to cement and deepen the multifaceted ties with the country’s Ministry of Public Security, through which contributing to deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The guest leader also informed the host leader about the two ministries’ cooperation outcomes in which the two sides have actively worked together to enforce law in the fight against crimes, fire prevention, and rescue efforts, thus contributing to ensuring order and security in each nation as well as peace and stability in the region. 

Regarding international issues, Minister Shanmugam said ASEAN is playing an increasingly important role in global cooperation.  He called on ASEAN member states to further promote solidarity and close relations the context of more complicated and unpredictable political and commercial turmoil in the world. 

The Minister also hoped that PM Phuc would support and create favorable conditions for the two ministries to build legal regulations on crime prevention and fighting.

PM Phuc acknowledged the comments of Minister Shanmugam, affirming that the Vietnamese Government supports and creates favorable ways for the two ministries to cement and deepen relations in related fields. He suggested the two ministries beef up consultations to deal with issues of common concerns and contribute to preserving peace, stability, and development. 

Regarding the prevention of crimes, the PM asked the two sides to maintain cooperation mechanisms and strengthen information exchange and investigation coordination, especially in ensuring cyber security and dealing with high-tech crime, economic crime, drug crime, terrorism, and wanted criminals./.
