PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his spouse left Ha Noi on May 20 to pay official visits to the Russian Federation

The visits are made at the invitation of Russian PM Dmitri Medvedev, Norwegian PM Erna Solberg, and Swedish PM Stefan Lofven.

The PM was accompanied by Deputy Minister of National Defense Be Xuan Truong, Deputy Minister of Public Security Bui Van Nam, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs To Anh Dung, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Danh, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Van Hieu, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy.

PM Phuc’s visit to Russia from May 20-23 takes place in the context that both nations will organize the Viet Nam Year in Russia and the Russia Year in Viet Nam in 2019 and 2020 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the signing of the treaty on basic principles for the bilateral relations (1994-2019) and the 70th anniversary of the diplomatic relations (1950-2020).

The visit is meant that Viet Nam treasures the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, as well as aims to strengthen the all-round cooperation, especially in economy, trade and investment.

The visit to Norway from May 24-26 will highlight the strong relations between the two nations, and help deepen the traditional friendship and develop the bilateral cooperation in a more practical and effective manner.

This is the first visit by a Vietnamese PM to the northern European country since 1999. Both countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations (1971-2021).

PM Phuc will visit Sweden from May 26-28, asserting that Viet Nam consistently attaches much importance to consolidating the friendship and traditional cooperation between the two countries in the past five decades. This is the first visit at the Prime Ministerial level to Sweden after 20 years./.
