PM discusses development of start-ups with Harvard University's Professor

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc expected that the establishment of the Fulbright University Viet Nam (FUV) will enhance start-ups in Viet Nam.

The PM made that statement at his reception for Harvard University’s Professor Thomas Vallely on January 10.

Viet Nam hopes to promote education cooperation with the U.S. in the context that it has launched three breakthroughs to achieve more sustainable development and improvement of human resources, said the PM.

For his side, the Professor said the development of the FUV will focus on three contents of the establishment of a management mechanism in form of the most modern model for a world’s top university, a suitable financial model for mobilizing enough financial resources and preparation of modern infrastructure for the university.

He thanked the Vietnamese Government for facilitating the FUV, expecting that the Vietnamese leaders and the U.S. side will join hands in addressing obstacle for the university to soon operate.

The Professor sais the U.S. hailed the phone talks between PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and President-elect Donald Trump, as a crucial contribution to enhancing the two nations’ multi-faceted relations.

The Government leader affirmed that Viet Nam advocates university autonomy mechanism based on international regulations.

PM Phuc suggested the two sides make efforts in establishing infrastructure for the FUV and a group of excellent professors and staffs, asserting that the Vietnamese Government will support the operation of the university.

Mr. Thomas Vallely welcomed the Vietnamese Government’s action plan to accelerate start-ups, highlighting that the FUV’s programs will concentrate on the development of start-ups.
