Under the decision, this sum will be used to support people’s welfare and restore the damaged accommodation.

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng requested the People’s Committee chairpersons of the recipient provinces to be responsible for managing and using the aids in line with purposes and current regulations. The local authorities were ordered to make good use of their own contingency budgets and mobilize other legal financial resources to settle the typhoon’s impacts as soon as possible.

Ministries, sectors and localities promptly overcoming the typhoon’s effects

The Border Guard Command was reported to have given VND140 million to Bến Tre, Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu, Bình Thuận and Tiền Giang Provinces; mobilized over 200 soldiers to help the local people in Long Điền and Đất Đỏ Districts (Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu) to tackle the typhoon’s aftermath; and deployed the local forces and vehicles to look for the missing and repair people’s accommodations. The ministries of Fisheries, Public Security, Post and Telecommunication, Health, and Transport are also involved in dealing with the typhoon’s consequences.

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has informed that by the end of December 7, all typhoon-stricken provinces were connected to the electric network again.

At present, the disaster-hit localities are striving to handle the impacts as soon as possible. Bình Thuận Province has delivered 30 tons of rice and 5,000 roofing sheets to Phú Quý Island and mobilized 250 soldiers to help the locals rebuild their houses. Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province has restored its illumination and communication systems and ensured the fresh water supply to the people. Armed forces and pioneer youths have been dispatched to three districts of Long Điền, Đất Đỏ, and Xuyên Mộc to assist the local people. The provincial Service of Trade was assigned to provide enough food to people, making sure that no one would suffer from starvation.
