The PM made the statement at a reception for visiting Governor of Mie prefecture Eikei Suzuki in Ha Noi on November 14, during which he affirmed that Viet Nam considers Japan its leading and long-term partner.

The extensive Viet Nam-Japan strategic partnership has been growing strongly and practically in all fields over the past years, he said, highlighting the significance of boosting locality-to-locality exchange and cooperation to accelerating relations between the two countries.

Many Japanese businesses have invested in Viet Nam and made success. The two sides should further strengthen investment cooperation to turn Japan, from the second largest, into the largest foreign investor in Viet Nam, PM Phuc recommended.

The Vietnamese Government and localities pledge to create favorable conditions for foreign investors, including those from Japan, he affirmed.

The host suggested facilitating Viet Nam-Mie ties in the tourism and labor sectors and enhancing cultural exchange between the two countries and their localities, alongside the Viet Nam cultural festivals held in Japan and the Japan cultural festivals organized in Viet Nam.

For his part, Eikei Suzuki noted that Mie enterprises are seeking cooperation and exchange opportunities in Viet Nam in various areas, including culture, economics, investment and environment, with most of the prefecture’s small and medium-sized companies listing the Southeast Asian country among their top choices for overseas investment.

As home to many world-famous technology brands such as Honda, Toyota and Toshiba, Suzuki, Mie wishes to strengthen ties with Viet Nam in this field, Suzuki said.

The Mie delegations also worked with officials of a number of Vietnamese cities, including Hoi An, to enhance bilateral tourism and investment ties. The two sides should boost aviation cooperation so as to facilitate travel for tourists in each other’s nation, the guest recommended.

Suzuki also voiced his wish to further relations with Viet Nam in environmental protection and seaport development.
