Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc receives the New Zealand Minister of Agriculture, Biosecurity, Food Safety, and Rural Communities, Associate Minister of Trade and Export Growth, Damien O'Connor, Ha Noi, August 29, 2018

The PM made the statement during his reception for the New Zealand Minister of Agriculture, Biosecurity, Food Safety, and Rural Communities, Associate Minister of Trade and Export Growth, Damien O'Connor, in Ha Noi on August 29.

Recalling his successful visit to New Zealand in March 2018, PM Phuc highlighted the fine relations between Viet Nam and New Zealand, emphasizing that Viet Nam always values the ASEAN-New Zealand strategic partnership.

He spoke highly of New Zealand’s successful kiwifruit production value chain, he asked the New Zealand side to support Viet Nam in organizing the production and creation of a value chain for VietNam’s dragon fruit in order to boost exports.

The Government leader also recommended bilateral cooperation in producing and exporting Viet Nam’s avocado.

Minister Damien O'Connor expressed his impression on Viet Nam’s dynamic development, saying that he had a number of working sessions with Vietnamese agencies, ministries and localities to facilitate cooperation in agriculture and some other areas.

Sharing PM Phuc’s idea on the building of a value chain for Vietnamese dragon fruit, the guest affirmed New Zealand’s willingness to support Viet Nam in the field.

Viet Nam can build a value chain for its avocado to boost exports, he said, stating that New Zealand is also willing to cooperate with Viet Nam in food hygiene safety management and many other spheres.
