PM calls for better policy coordination among CLV countries

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc called for stronger policy steps in each of CLV countries and better policy coordination among them to build a prosperous and dynamic part of ASEAN.

The Government chief stressed the point on Saturday while addressing the 10th Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle Area Summit, which was also attended by Cambodian PM Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Lao PM Thongloun Sisoulith, ASEAN Secretary-General  Lim Jock Hoi and leaders of the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank.

He suggested that the three countries should gradually expand cooperation scope through enhancing economic connectivity, better aligning the development triangle’s strategies and plans with those of ASEAN, and giving priority to facilitation of goods and service movement within the triangle and between the triangle and external partners.

During the summit, the participants focused on reviewing the implementation of the master plan for socioeconomic development through 2020 and decisions made by the three countries’ leaders, and discussing future the region’s orientations in the coming time.

The CLV leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen comprehensive cooperation between the three countries, considering it as an indispensible part of the ASEAN Community Vision 2025.

They emphasized the necessity of enhancing connectivity between the three economies in order to improve competitiveness and better participate in regional and global value chains.

The leaders discussed on expansion of the CLV Development Triangle Area and agreed to task their ministers and pundits to further study this matter.

The leaders also approved a master plan for CLV connectivity until 2030 which covers major orientations for boosting infrastructure, institutional, economic and people-to-people exchange connectivity.

The CLV leaders agreed that the 11th summit of the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle Area will take place in Laos in 2020./.
