General Director of the General Statistics Office Nguyen Bich Lam reported that in 2017, the sector conducted a census and 28 large-scale investigations.

The first economic survey in 2017 collected information on goods processing for foreign enterprises and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Viet Nam.

The General Statistics Office (GSO) crafted quarterly development scenarios in 2017 and proposed solutions to the PM.

IT software programs were regularly updated. Last year, GSO also applied the technology on smart signatory recognition in the general surveys on rural areas, agriculture, and aquaculture with a view to minimizing shortcomings and cutting waste time.

In 2017, the analyzing and forecast work was promoted.

The GSO also established a working group to compose GRDP; install and develop software on GDP for the country and GRDP for provinces and cities on schedule.

In 2018, the GSO will continue to research and renovate appropriate investigation options in line with practical conditions and prepare for the conversion of the original comparative year from 2010 to 2020./.
