PM attends hospital medical centre opening

The event also saw the presence of former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; Politburo members: Permanent member of the Secretariat, Tran Quoc Vuong and Defence Minister Ngo Xuan Lich, and others.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc presented the “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” title to Military Central Hospital 108.

He spoke highly of the hospital’s development direction that has focused on improving service quality, diversifying forms of medical examination and treatment, and promoting the capacity of its staff to turn itself into an international-standard smart hospital. 

He also appreciated the Hospital’s efforts over recent times, towards the goal of becoming a smart and world-class hospital.

The PM asked Hospital 108 to enhance its research work and master scientific and technological advances, as well as to focus on training human resources with  political firmness and high expertise and expand international cooperation, thereby ensuring the requirements for the development of a special-grade hospital.

On this occasion, the PM also cut the ribbon to inaugurate the hospital’s central building complex, which is the most modern medical facility in Vietnam. With two 22-storey buildings and one of 10 storeys, the complex has a total of 2,000 beds which can be increased to 4,000 beds in emergency cases.

Military Central Hospital 108 examines about 4,000-5,000 patients each day. It has provided medical services for nearly 1 million patients so far this year.

The South Korean-designed centre consists of three buildings which host 2,000 beds. It has 50 operating rooms.

The laboratory uses a conveyor compressed air belt system for the testing sample transportation. The system can also carry medicines and medical tools weighing 3-5 kilos.
