The event was formally held in the presence of both domestic and foreign guests.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, 186 countries and international organizations had confirmed to send their representatives to attend the Japanese Emperor’s coronation ceremony, including 15 kings of countries, seven crown princes, three Royal-Family delegations, 67 presidential-level delegations, 12 vice presidential-level delegations and 25 prime ministerial delegations.

This is considered one of the largest-scale international events that Japan has ever organized. Following Emperor Naruhito’s coronation statement, Japanese PM Shinzo Abe delivered a congratulatory speech.

PM Phuc’s participation in the coronation ceremony demonstrates Viet Nam’s respect for the extensive strategic partnership with Japan, and received high appreciation from the Japanese government and the Japanese Imperial Family. It is also of great significance to strengthening cooperation and exchanges between the two countries in the future, as well as further tightening the fine relations between Viet Nam and the Imperial House of Japan.

The PM’s trip takes place as the Viet Nam-Japan extensive strategic partnership is growing finely, comprehensively and substantially with a high level of political trust. Japan continues to be a leading economic partner, the biggest ODA supplier, the second largest investor, the third biggest tourism partner and the fourth largest trade partner of Viet Nam.

The two countries are signatories to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The Viet Nam-Japan relationship is now in its best period in history since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties.

Emperor Naruhito and the Japanese Imperial Family have special sentiments for Viet Nam. Emperor Naruhito visited Viet Nam in 2009 as the Crown Prince of Japan. Emperor Emeritus Akihito, the father of Emperor Naruhito, was the first Japanese Emperor to visit Viet Nam in 2017, and it was also his last official foreign visit before his abdication on April 30, 2019.

* Tonight, PM Phuc will attend the Royal Banquet hosted by Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, with the attendance of guests who are heads of state and leaders of countries, regions and organization.
