Welcoming the delegates from Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand participating the event, the PM appraised the agreements reached at the meeting, including the 9th Subregional Action Plan.

The subregional cooperative mechanisms have brought into full play their active role in establishing and making policies as well as proposing joint initiatives and cooperative activities in drug prevention and control, said the PM, asserting that Viet Nam commits to launching effectively the recent approved Action Plan.

Viet Nam always gives priority to drug prevention and control works and cooperates with the United Nations and nations in the Subregion, both bilateral and multi-lateral levels to fight against drugs, he asserted.

The PM highly valued the role and assistance of the UNODC for countries in the Subregion, proposing the organization enhance cooperation with Viet Nam and other nations in this area.

UNODC Chief Regional Representative Jeremy Douglas praised Viet Nam’s role and commitments in drug prevention and control and the Subregional Action Plan reached at the meeting.

The UN and the UNODC will closely cooperate with other nations in the region and provide necessary assistance to cope with trans-national crimes and drugs.
