The Government chief made the request on Saturday at the national teleconference to review performance of the 2020-2021 academic school year and figure out tasks for the 2021-2022 school year.

Viet Nam signed contracts to purchase a total of 51 million vaccine doses from Pfizer, of which 20 million doses are for minors aged between 12 and 17.

For children aged below 12, the Government will work with vaccine suppliers and step up domestic vaccine research to acquire vaccines as soon as possible.

Pham also asked authorities to administer vaccines to teachers who have not been vaccinated before school resumption.

In “read” and “yellow” areas, online learning remains the only option, thus local leaders need to provide support for students who do not have learning equipment in a bid to leave no one behind, he stressed.

PM Pham asked localities to adopt tuition exemption and reduction policies for students and families seriously affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
