PM asks for careful preparation for GMS, CLV summits

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc presided over a meeting to prepare for the 6th Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS-6) Summit and the 10th Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam (CLV-10) Development Triangle Summit which scheduled in Ha Noi from March 29-31.

March 08, 2018 8:30 AM GMT+7

The event drew the attendance of representatives who are members of subcommittees on content, materials-logistics, propaganda-culture, security-healthcare.

PM Phuc stressed that following the successful APEC 2017, GMS-6 Summit and CLV-10 Development Triangle Summit will be one of the three most important multilateral events in Viet Nam in 2018. The upcoming events will offer a good chance for leaders to discuss  issues of common concern including investment, trade, security, and sustainable usage of Mekong water resources. In addition, the events would provide a good opportunity for Viet Nam to strengthen cooperation and connectivity in favor of socio-economic development.

The GMS cooperation was initiated in 1992, encompassing Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam, and China’s provinces of Guangxi and Yunnan. Over the years, the cooperation has been expanded to cover various fields with the aim of making it easy for cooperation for development among the members.

Meanwhile, the CLV Development Triangle cooperation was set up in 1999 to spur the development of border provinces of the three neighboring countries. The cooperation has been stepped up over the past years, thus promoting economic-trade ties and contributing to shifting economic structures and boosting connectivity among the three economies./.
