PM arrives in Laos for 40th Gov’t committee meeting

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and a high-ranking delegation arrived in Laos to partake in the 40th meeting of the Viet Nam-Laos Inter-governmental Committee from February 4-5.

The Vietnamese Government was accompanied by Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister-Chairman of the Office of the Government Mai Tien Dung, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The, Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha, Minister of Science and Technology, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha. 

PMs Phuc and Sisoulith will co-chair the 40th meeting of the Viet Nam-Laos Inter-governmental Committee on February 5, during which the two sides will review the cooperation between the two countries in 2017 and seek new, breakthrough solutions to improving the cooperation in 2018.

Viet Nam and Laos set up diplomatic ties on September 5, 1962 and signed a Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation on July 18, 1977, which are considered important milestones in bilateral relations.

The two countries organized hundreds of activities during the Viet Nam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2017, attracting the participation of all-level authorities, sectors and a large number of people. Notably, they exchanged nearly 300 delegations at all levels./.
