PM arrives in Canberra, starting official visit to Australia

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc has arrived in Canberra on March 15 to start his official visit to Australia and attend the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit, from March 14-18 at the invitation of Australian PM Malcom Turnbull.

The Vietnamese PM and his spouse were welcomed by Australian Senator, Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister James McGrath, Deputy Australian Public Service Commissioner Stephanie Foster, Australian Ambassador to Viet Nam Craig Chittick and leaders of the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

According to the schedule, Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull will host a welcome ceremony for the Vietnamese PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his spouse. The two PMs will hold talks and witness the signing ceremonies of cooperative agreements. 

The Vietnamese leader will meet Special Minister of State Scott Ryan, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tony Smith and Governor-General of Australia Peter Cosgrove. 

On the evening of March 14, the PM will visit the Australian National University, the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia and Overseas Vietnamese living here. 

After concluding activities in Canberra, the PM and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation will arrive in Sydney to participate in meetings within the framework of the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit and attend a signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on anti-terrorism between ASEAN and Australia. 

In Sydney, the PM will meet Governor of New South Wales, join the Viet Nam-Australia Business Forum and receive representatives of large Australian corporations.
