PM approves trade of goods at border gates, urges strict quarantine amid nCoV outbreaks

This is part of the Government Office’s Notice No. 43/TB-VPCP concerning Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s conclusions at a recent meeting of the Standing Board of the Government on the prevention and control of the acute respiratory infection caused by the novel coronavirus (nCoV).

The notice stated that in the face of the complicated development of the disease, the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat and the PM have issued drastic and synchronous directions with systems of proactive and appropriate solutions.

All the levels, sectors and mass unions, from the central to local levels, have been actively involved in implementing epidemic prevention and control measures in line with the directions of the Party Central Committee and the PM.

Viet Nam’s measures to cope with the disease have been recognized and highly appreciated by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), thus demonstrating the country’s role as ASEAN Chair 2020.

As of February 4, Viet Nam successfully treated three cases of nCoV infection. The PM highly appreciated and applauded such an important achievement of the health sector, the notice said.

It is forecast that the nCoV epidemic will continue to have complicated and unpredictable developments. The PM asked the ministries, branches, localities and people to focus on preventing and combating the disease, continue to fully grasp and strictly implement the spirit of “fighting the epidemic is like fighting the enemies”, and mobilize the involvement of the whole political system.

He requested the full and effective implementation of the directions of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat and the Government, and the application of suitable and comprehensive measures to cope with the nCoV epidemic and prevent it from spreading widely.

The sacrifice of some economic interests to protect the health of people is acceptable, but it is necessary to take proactive measures to ensure stable production and boost economic development, according to the Government leader./.
