VGP – The Prime Minister has approved a master plan on the development of the Thac Ba Lake national tourist site in the northern province of Yen Bai until 2025, with a vision towards 2030.

December 25, 2018 11:16 AM GMT+7

Accordingly, the national tourist site will cover around 28,800 hectares, located in the administrative territory of the communes of Ngoc Chan, Phuc Ninh, Cam Nhan, My Gia, Yen Thanh, Phuc An, Vu Linh, Vinh Kien, Dai Dong, Tan Huong, Thinh Hung, Han Da and Mong Son, Yen Binh townlet and Thac Ba townlet, in Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province. The area of the core zone focused for tourism development is approx. 1,200 hectares.

Under the plan, the Thac Ba Lake tourist site will meet the criteria of a national tourist site by 2025. In the following five years, the site will strive to develop into an ecotourism, resort and recreation center of Yen Bai province and the northern midland and mountainous tourism area, with synchronous technical infrastructure, typical tourism products, and its own tourism brand.

The Thac Ba Lake national tourist site targets to welcome about 380,000 arrivals of visitors by 2025 and approx. one million by 2030, with international arrivals reaching 40,000 and 140,000, respectively. Total revenues from tourists are expected to hit VND300 billion (US$12.9 million) by 2025 and VND900 billion (US$38.7 million) by 2030.

The site will focus on attracting tourists from Hanoi, other provinces in the Red River delta region and the northeastern coastal region, and the northern midland and mountainous region, while expanding the exploitation of the markets of luxury tourists from Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang city and Can Tho city.

Concerning the market of international tourists, priority will be given to the traditional markets of France, the United States and Canada, in addition to expanding the markets in Northeast Asian countries (China, Japan and the Republic of Korea) and Southeast Asian nations (Thailand and Laos).
