PM approves development plan for Tan Trao national tourism area

VGP – The Prime Minister has approved a master plan for the development of the Tan Trao national tourism area in the northern province of Tuyen Quang until 2030.

December 26, 2017 9:16 AM GMT+7

Accordingly, the planning region is within the administrative scope of Son Duong district’s Tan Trao, Minh Thanh, Trung Yen, Binh Yen and Luong Thien communes, and Yen Son district’s Kim Quan commune. The core zone of the tourism area will cover 2,500 hectares (within the landscape and relic protection areas in service of tourism, pursuant to the PM’s Decision No. 2356/QD-TTg dated December 6, 2016).

Under the master plan, the Tan Trao national tourism area will strive to welcome around 1.5 million arrivals of visitors (including 2,000 international arrivals) by 2025 and approximately two million arrivals in the next five years (including 35,000 international arrivals). Total revenues from tourists (calculated by the current prices) are expected to reach over VND600 billion (US$26.4 million) in 2025 and roughly VND1.65 trillion (US$72.6 million) in 2030.

Major tourism products will include tourism activities based on the exploitation of historical values, such as sight-seeing tours of revolutionary and historical relics, and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) tourism.

In regards to the development of tourism technical infrastructure, the master plan will develop a sufficient number of accommodation rooms for tourists in each period, targeting about 500 rooms of three stars or above by 2025 and approximately 1,000 rooms until 2030.

In addition, restaurants and eateries in hotels, as well as independent ones outside at reception and residential centers will be developed to serve native dishes. An entertainment system, including sport and recreation facilities (swimming pool, volleyball and badminton courts, folk games and parks with green trees) will also be developed in association with hotels, restaurants and residential centers.

The resources for the development of the Tan Trao national tourism area include the investment support funding from the State budget and the tourism development support fund, capital from organizations, businesses and domestic economic sectors, and other legally mobilized capital sources.

Based on its annual capital-balancing capability, the State budget will give priority to investing in the development of technical infrastructure, partly supporting the promotion and the branding of the national tourism area, developing human resources, preserving and promoting cultural and historical values as well as natural values, protecting tourism resources, and facilitating climate change adaptation in accordance with the Law on State Budget, the Law on Public Investment and relevant regulations.
