PM appoints Acting Minister of Health

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has signed a decision to appoint Nguyen Thanh Long as Acting Minister of Health.

Acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long

Long, born on September 3, 1966 in Giao Thuy District of Nam Dinh Province, was promoted the new position from his previous role as permanent Deputy Minister of Health.

He graduated from the Ha Noi Medical University in 1995.

From June 2005 to March 2008, Long was Deputy Director-General of the Administration of HIV/AIDS Control under the Ministry of Health. He was promoted to the role as Director General of the Administration since March 2008.

He served as Deputy Minister of Health between December 2011 and October 2018.

From October 2018 to January 2020, he was Deputy Head of the CPVCC Commission for Propagation and Education.

On January 31, 2020, PM Phuc decided to appoint Long as Deputy Minister of Health.

Long is one of the Deputy Chairmen of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control./.
