PM agrees master plan on major border-gate EZ

VGP – Located near a communication axis which connects Việt Nam with other Asian countries, the Hoa Lư Border-gate Economic Zone (BGEZ) is expected to spur economic growth in the southern province of Bình Phước and trade links between Việt Nam and Cambodia.

January 19, 2010 9:30 AM GMT+7

The check-point in the Hoa Lư BGEZ comes into operation in October 2009
The Government chief recently gave green light to the master plan on the construction of Hoa Lư BGEZ to 2025.

The BGEZ will help to develop economic, cultural and diplomatic exchanges between Việt Nam and Cambodia; serve as a commercial, industrial and service center of the Bình Phước Province and play as an important transport hub for the region.

The EZ will stretch out in 28,364 hectares and have a population of around 80,000–100,000 people in 2015, with about 30,000 more in 2025.

Such major transport axes like National Highway 13 and the trans-Asian Highway will connect the BGEZ’s different functional areas.

Investment projects on technical infrastructure development will be prioritized to expand National Highway 13; build water and electric stations and sewage treatment plants.

On the other hand, non-tariff and resident areas will be developed.

As of October 2009, over 51 investors registered to do business in the Hoa Lư BGEZ, of which 21 received land.
