PM Phuc welcomes Dean of Harvard Kennedy School

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Friday hosted reception for Douglas W. Elmendorf, dean and Don K. Price Professor of Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School, and Thomas Vallely, Director of Viet Nam Program at Harvard University.

At the reception, Phuc noted with pleasure that the Viet Nam-US relations continue advancing in a practical and effective manner across fields, in which trade, investment and education are among the key driving forces of the bilateral ties.

He spoke highly of fruitful cooperation between Viet Nam and Harvard University and Fulbright University Viet Nam (FUV), especially through the Viet Nam Executive Leadership Program (VELP).

The Government chief also applauded proffessor Th. Vallely’s great contribution to the establishment and operation of the FUV.

He suggested Harvard and Fulbright Universities continue the VELP and offer scholarships to Vietnamese students, thus helping to foster human resources development for the Southeast Asian nation.

For his part, Elmendorf expressed his delight at the flourishing development in bilateral relations after 25 years of normalizing relations between the two countries, including cooperation in education and training.

He pledged to continue promoting projects and initiatives for education and training cooperation between the two nations.

Meanwhile, Vallely said the ongoing visit aimed to exchange views and propose cooperation programs in the future./.
