PM Phuc took the occasion to ask the Australian side to continue facilitating import of Vietnamese farm produce like longan, rambutan, star apple, and shrimp.

The two PMs shared their view that both countries should step up cooperation in trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people exchanges among others.

The pair jointly agreed to coordinate in stepping up trade liberation and settling issues arising from the implementation of the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CTPTT) which is scheduled to take effect early next year.

They also agreed on the importance of maintaining peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, peacefully settling disputes on the basis of international law while enhancing coordination at the United Nations, ASEM and during Viet Nam’s ASEAN Chairmanship.

The same day, PM Phuc had bilateral meetings with Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in and Chilean President Sebastien Pinera.

The Vietnamese leader called for close coordination from Canada and Chile along with other CPTPP members to ensure effective realization of the trade deal to bring benefits to all the member countries.

Meanwhile, PM Phuc spoke highly of the Republic of Korea’s efforts to spur cooperation with ASEAN and welcome its initiative to host the ASEAN-RoK Commemorative Summit in 2019./.
