President Ram Nath Kovind welcomed the Vietnamese PM and high-ranking delegation to India for the important events.

They were pleased with robust growth of Viet Nam – India traditional ties and comprehensive cooperation since the bilateral relationship was upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership in September 2016.

The two leaders hailed the organization of meaningful events throughout the Viet Nam – India friendship year 2017, which marked 45 years of diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership between the two countries and contributed to developing public understanding on the relationship and bilateral collaboration across sectors.

They agreed to work together at multilateral forums.

On this occasion, President Ram Nath Kovind expressed his gratitude and praised Viet Nam’s coordinating role in ASEAN – India ties. He highlighted that Viet Nam is an important pillar in India's Act East Policy. He vowed to make stronger efforts in promoting the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership based on outcomes of their 45-year diplomatic relations.

Both sides agreed to frequently host high-ranking delegation visits between their parties, governments and parliaments, and exchanges between localities and people.

They said defense-security engagements will be boosted towards greater effectiveness, while economics and trade partnerships will be promoted towards a bilateral trade goal of US$ 15 billion in 2020.

On this occasion, the President said that India will continue assisting Viet Nam in training high-quality human resources and offering more development support packages and preferential credit to the country.
