PM Phuc leaves for 31st ASEAN Summit

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc left Ha Noi on Sunday for the 31st ASEAN Summit and related meetings in the Philippines.

Viet Nam's participation at the 31st ASEAN Summits and related meetings aims to further consolidate the solidarity spirit of ASEAN, promote the bloc’s central role while deepening cooperation with ASEAN partners. Photo: VGP

These are the key meetings of the bloc this year with the participation of leaders from all ten ASEAN member State, ASEAN partners and international organizations.

It is expected that 55 documents will be signed or approved during the meetings.

The Philippines will host a special Gala celebration on the 50th ASEAN founding anniversary.

Philippine President Duterte will hand over the Chairmanship of ASEAN to PM Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore, the incoming chair of ASEAN in 2018.

By joining the meetings, Viet Nam expects to further consolidate the solidarity spirit of ASEAN, promote the bloc’s central role while deepening cooperation with ASEAN partners./.
