PM Phuc busy on 34th ASEAN Summit sidelines

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen in Bangkok, Thailand on June 23.

At the meeting, the three PMs expressed their pleasure at the solid socio-economic development achievements and the increasingly better living standards in respective countries.

They also expressed their pleasure at the increasingly strong relationship and solidarity among the three nations, contributing to the maintenance of peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The PMs agreed to continue cooperation under the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle and Mekong Subregion frameworks and soon develop a master plan for connecting the three economies.

The leaders also agreed to foster border security cooperation, border trade and investment in order to build the shared borderline of peace, friendship and development.

PM Phuc affirmed Viet Nam will continue support for Laos and Cambodia in human resource training and share its development experience with the two neighbors.

The leaders vowed to coordinate closely at regional and international forums and in accelerating the building of the ASEAN Community of solidarity, united and self-reliance.

PM Sisoulith and PM Hun Sen congratulated Viet Nam on winning non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 20202021 tenure with record number of positive votes, pledging to support Viet Nam as the ASEAN Chair in 2020.

The same day, PM Phuc met with Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte to discuss on bilateral cooperation and coordination at multilateral forums

PM Phuc informed that he has received a letter of President Duterte, in which the latter extended thanks to Viet Nam for having rescued 22 Filipino fishermen on June 6, 2019.
