PM Phuc: ASEAN solidarity, centrality must be top priority

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc called on ASEAN member countries to continue giving top priority to consolidating internal solidarity and unity and promoting the bloc’s central role in ASEAN-led mechanisms.

Phuc stressed the point at the plenary session of the 34th ASEAN Summit in Bangkok, Thailand on June 22.

The member countries also need to foster intra economic connectivity and effectively utilize the signed commitments and agreements while concluding the regional comprehensive economic partnership (RCEP) soon to create an open business environment.

In the context of the 4th industrial revolution, PM Phuc suggested ASEAN focus on linking and advancing the development of the network of 4.0 technology centers.

At the Summit, the regional leaders approved ASEAN Leaders’ Vision Statement on Partnership for Sustainability, ASEAN Leaders’ Statement on The ASEAN Cultural Year 2019, and ASEAN Framework of Action on Marine Debris./.
