The event was attended by President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man; leaders of ministries, sectors, localities and the Viet Nam Farmers’ Association; and 300 exemplary farmers representing peasants throughout the country.

Speaking before the dialogue, PM Phuc welcomed farmers nationwide sending about 2,000 questions to him, including direct ones regarding farm produce processing and consumption and farmers’ participation in the production and export value chains.

The Government leader said he would be directly engaged in as well as ask the leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the State Bank of Viet Nam to jointly clarify farmers’ queries, especially farmers in the Mekong Delta, an important agricultural production region of the whole country.

After the dialogue, the PM said he would continue to hold a dialogue with farmers in the Central region.

In addition to the State’s support policies for farmers, agriculture and rural areas, PM Phuc also called for renovation among the Vietnamese peasants, stating that each household, commune and district should change their mindset and restructure production to meet the market’s demands.

The PM’s second dialogue with farmers continued to show the Party and State’s care for Viet Nam’s farmer force through listening to and removing obstacles to further accelerate the development of agriculture, farmers and rural areas in the time to come.

During the dialogue, the PM and the cabinet members, appointed by the PM, will hold dialogue with farmers on the three major topics, including consumption of farm produce and clean agricultural production towards increasing value and sustainable development; land, construction of rural infrastructure, climate change and environmental pollution; and capital and ensuring social security for farmers.
