PM Lee appreciates VN-SG strategic partnership, confirms attendance at WEF ASEAN

VGP – The Viet Nam-Singapore strategic partnership has proved to be effective as the two countries share many common interests at both bilateral and multilateral aspects, said Singaporean PM Leen Hsien Loong.

Officials: VN, Singapore share numerous strategic interests 

PM Lee stressed the point at his meeting with Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh on Tuesday.

PM Lee also confirmed he will attend the World Economic Forum on ASEAN, scheduled to take place in Viet Nam in September this year.

PM Lee expressed his pleasure to welcome Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc to Singapore last April when both sides reached consensus on further advancing cooperation in various domains, including smart cities development and renewable energy.

Deputy PM, FM Minh, who is on an official visit to Singapore, affirmed Viet Nam’s consistent policy of treasuring the strategic partnership with Singapore.

Minh extended thanks to Singapore for its support and assistance for Viet Nam’s development and international integration process, especially in high-quality human resource development and governance.

On regional and international cooperation, the two leaders underlined the need to ensure the principles on peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, settle disputes through peaceful means with respect for international law and promote the common voice and central role of ASEAN in the regional architecture.
