PM: 16th ASEAN Summit will churn out three statements

VGP – The 16th ASEAN Summit will ratify three important documents – the Leaders’ Statement on recovery and sustainable growth, the ASEAN Statement on climate change, and the Presidency Statement, revealed PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng.

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng this afternoon hosted a reception to ASEAN General Secretary Surin Pitsuwan who is here for the 16th ASEAN Summit this week.

The Vietnamese leader said that each successful ASEAN meeting is a step forward in the process of building the ASEAN Community.

He expected to see the announcement of three important ASEAN documents – the Leaders’ Statement on recovery and sustainable growth, the ASEAN Statement on climate change, and the Presidency Statement – which can contribute to the development of the ASEAN Community.

PM Dũng expressed his hope that Mr. Surin Pitsuwan, the ASEAN Secretariat, and ASEAN officials would closely work together to finalize these documents during the ongoing and upcoming meetings.

Mr. Surin Pitsuwan asserted that ASEAN places importance on the role of Việt Nam during its year of ASEAN Presidency.
