Overseas Vietnamese in Holland give help to Durian-stricken victims

VNGOVNet – The representatives of the Association of Vietnamese People in the Hague and the Vietnamese community in Ousdenbosch, the Netherlands, asked on December 15 the Vietnamese Embassy to transfer €1,655 (equivalent to VND35 million) through the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese to the victims of Typhoon Durian in some provinces in South Vietnam.

They also gave some suggestions to make the raising of support for their calamity-stricken fellow countrymen at home more effective. Over the past months, Vietnamese people residing and working in the Netherlands have contributed over 4,500 (or nearly VND100 million) to calamity-stricken victims at home.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Holland Hà Huy Thông expressed his gratitude to the good sentiment and kindness of the Vietnamese community in the Netherlands towards typhoon-hit people at home and his hope that charity activities like this will be further developed.
