According to Minister Tien, healthcare service quality made big leaps forward in 2018. A large number of medical facilities and hospitals mastered advance techniques.

Statistics showed that in 2018 about 300,000 foreign patients were treated at Vietnamese hospitals including 500,000 inpatients. The patients were overseas Vietnamese people, Lao and Cambodian people, and foreigners who are living in Viet Nam.

Foreign patients usually prefer technical services namely dental implant, cardiovascular interventions, cosmetic surgery, and some surgical diseases.
