VGP - The conference on ASEAN business connectivity and the forum themed “ASEAN Economic Community: Opportunities and Challenges to Vietnamese Businesses” were held on October 8 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The event drew the participation of over 300 Vietnamese firms and a number of Malaysian companies, together with representatives from the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN BAC) Viet Nam, and Viet Nam’s Inter-sectoral Steering Committee for International Economic Integration.

Vietnamese and Malaysian businesses shared their experience, and exchanged  views on difficulties, obstacles and success, in the process of regional integration.

Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the VCCI, Doan Duy Khuong, provided an overview of current changes in the business environment in ASEAN countries and in the world.

These changes have brought about both challenges and opportunities for the countries’ enterprises, including those from Viet Nam, he said, stressing that it is a survival task for businesses in the integration process to overcome such challenges and make effective use of opportunities for further development.

Vice Chairman Khuong expressed his hopes that through the meetings, Vietnamese firms will share and learn from lessons  and experience in order to be able to help themselves as well as the domestic business community.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Le Quy Quynh hailed ASEAN member countries, including Malaysia, as promising markets for Vietnamese enterprises.

The Ambassador promised to spare no effort to support and connect Vietnamese and Malaysian businesses, contributing to facilitating bilateral economic and trade ties to meet the targets set by the two countries’ leaders.

On this occasion, representatives from state management agencies, scholars and scientists clarified the questions raised by the participating firms, helping them to gain an insight into the economic integration process.

The event, held by the Asian Management and Development Institute under the Viet Nam Ministry of Science and Technology, is scheduled to be held in Indonesia and Singapore in the next couples of days./.
