Over 24 million people benefit from COVID-19 supportive package

VGP – As much as 24.26 million people have benefited from VND 21,890 billion out of VND 26 trillion (US$ 1.13 billion) in accordance with Government’s Resolution 68, according to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs (MOLISA).

Binh Duong, Ha Noi, Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau are among localities receiving biggest amounts of financial support for people affected by the pandemic.

The MOLISA reported that 425,117 people also received cash support from the Unemployment Insurance Fund with a sum of VND 999.5 billion.

The Government also issued five decisions to provide 137,090 tons of rice relief for 2.41 million households with 9.14 million people in 31 provinces and cities.

In addition, 2,184 children lost parents due to the pandemic. The National Fund for Vietnamese Children worked with 27 provinces and cities to support 1,541 orphaned children with VND 5 million each. Up to 124 children of pregnant women infected with COVID-19 were given VND 1 million each.

The pandemic has negatively impacted on the labor market. Specifically, in Q1, the labor market was 49.1 million in Q3, down 2 million against the same period quarter, down 2.2 million against the same period last year./.
