Participants at the event included Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung, Swiss Ambassador to Viet Nam Ivo Sieber, Operations Manager for the World Bank in Viet Nam Stefanie Stallmeister and Senior Desk Officer for Global Affairs at the Canadian Embassy in Viet Nam Nina Seahra.

Speaking at the event, Minister Dung said that the Portal aims to support the process of open budget faster and more exactly. It also helps simplify open budget reporting at ministerial-level agencies and localities.

For the people, businesses, researchers and international and domestic originations, the portal is regarded as a channel to provide essential data and information relevant to the national budget and finance, thus enhancing social concerns and supervisions on the issue.

Viet Nam has entered the process of intensive international integration into the world’s economy, Dung said, expressing his hope that development partners continue coordinating with the Ministry of Finance to share international rule to put into practice in Viet Nam.

Operations Manager for the World Bank in Viet Nam Stefanie Stallmeister said that the Open Budget Portal will improve the publicity, transparency and effectiveness of budget as well as contribute to strengthening macro-economic management and awareness of risk and accountability of public service delivery.

The Portal, established by the Ministry of Finance, is sponsored by the Viet Nam Public Financial Management (PFM) Analytical and Advisory Assistance (AAA) Program.
