OIF members should boost poverty reduction cooperation

VGP – Members of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) should accelerate cooperation in poverty reduction, realization of Millennium Development Goals, and sustainable development as they are the top priorities of developing countries.

Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh made the statement during his talks with OIF Secretary General Abdou Diouf in Ha Noi on March 13.

During the talks, both sides discussed on wide range of issues, including the preparations for the 15th Francophonie Summit which is scheduled to take place in Senegal in November this year, cultural diversity and languages.

Deputy PM, FM Minh put forth measures to enhance ties between Viet Nam and OIF, particularly in the fields of education and training and French teaching in Viet Nam.

Secretary General Abdou Diouf highly valued Viet Nam’s socio-economic development achievements over the past years and thanked for the country’s contribution to the Francophonie.

He asked Viet Nam to further promote the relations between OIF and ASEAN and welcomed the country’s decision to join UN-led peace-keeping operations./.
