Number of enterprises in VN sets new record

VGP – As of December 31, 2017, a total number of 561,064 enterprises are operating nationwide, an increase of 11.1% against 2016, according to the General Statistics Office, under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Among 63 localities, 19 reported increases in the numbers of enterprises operating till December 31, 2017 compared to the same period in 2016 including Bac Giang up 28%, Thanh Hoa up 27.9%, Hung Yen up 26.4%, Ben Tre up 25.7%, Bac Ninh up 23.7% and Vinh Phuc up 19.7%. 

The number of newly-established enterprises in 2017 set a record of 126,859 ones, up 15.2%. As many as 26,448 enterprises re-operated in this year, down 0.9%. 

The number of enterprises stopped operation in 2017 was 21,684 ones, up 8.9% while the number of enterprises completed procedures for dissolution attained 12,113 ones, down 2.9%. 

As of December 31, 2016, there were 505,067 businesses recorded nationwide, seeing an average growth of 10.4% in the 2010-2016 period. 

The service sector took the lead with 254,244 ones, followed by industry and construction with 146,376 and the agricultural, forestry and aquatic sector with 4,447.
