Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Pham Duc Hai congratulated the bank on its recent achievements, especially the expansion of branches in regional countries, including Viet Nam.

Ho Chi Minh City supports NongHyup’s plan to open the branch – a move shows the bank’s resolve to invest more intensively and extensively in the city, he said.

Hai expressed his belief that with its experiences in opening the Ha Noi branch, the NongHyup Bank will be successful in deploying banking and credit activities in Ho Chi Minh City, thereby helping to connect investment and business activities of Korean and Vietnamese firms.

Briefing his host about NongHyup’s operations, Lee asked Ho Chi Minh City leaders to support the opening of the branch, thus creating favourable conditions for Korean enterprises to do business in the city.

NongHyup hopes that the bank can apply its experiences in agricultural credit provision in its activities in Ho Chi Minh City, he added.

With extensive experience and capabilities accumulated over 50 years, Nonghyup Bank will participate in the Viet Nam financial market with the full functions of a commercial bank and continue supporting the economic development of Viet Nam and activities of both countries’ businesses.

Founded in 1961 in Korea, Nonghyup is a co-operative bank with 100% of capital contributed by farmers and locals. Nonghyup is not only a commercial bank and but also a bank supporting agriculture policy, providing credit services for households and businesses and contributing to the Korean economy through credit financing in the field of rural agriculture. Nonghyup is currently the largest bank in Korea.

Nonghyup Bank has had a representative office in Viet Nam since 2012. At present, Nonghyup Bank is implementing several corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities to support Vietnamese brides in multicultural families while focusing on the mountainous areas of Viet Nam.
