Nielsen: Vietnamese consumers upbeat about economic prospects

VGP – With 119 index points, Việt Nam, together with Indonesia, ranked second in the latest Nielsen Global Consumer Confidence Survey.

The figure shows that Vietnamese consumers are optimistic about the domestic economy.

According to Nielsen, Việt Nam made the highest points since the survey was conducted here in 2006.

The survey found that 61% of the respondents in Việt Nam didn’t think that the country was in crisis period. Most of them held that the Government had implemented effective economic stimulus programs to rein in inflation.

According to the survey, 55% of the respondents stated that they would save their monthly surplus or purchase new technology.

The survey was carried out in May 10-26, 2010 and polled around 27,000 consumers in 48 countries throughout Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and North America about their confidence levels and economic outlook.

The Nielsen Consumer Confidence Index is developed based on consumers’ confidence in the job market, status of their personal finances and readiness to spend.
