Nguyen Phu Trong re-elected Party General Secretary for next tenure

VGP – The 12th Party Central Committee re-elected Nguyen Phu Trong as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam during its first plenary session on January 27.

At the session, the 12th Party Central Committee also elected the Political Bureau, the Secretariat, the CPV Central Committee's Inspection Commission, and the Chairman of the Commission.
 
Mr. Trong was introduced by the Political Bureau of the 11th Party Central Committee to the post.
Nguyen Phu Trong was born in 1944 in Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district, Ha Noi.
He received professor and PhD Politics (Party building); Bachelor of Literature – Ha Noi General University.
 
From August 1999 to April 2001, Mr. Trong was a  permanent Politburo member.
 
From January, 2000 to June, 2006, he was Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee (12th, 13th, 14th tenure).
 
From July, 2007 to present, he underwent the posts as National Assembly Chairman, Secretary of the National Assembly's Party Organiation, member of the Council for Defence and Security, and CPV General Secretary.
