New firm number down, registered capital up in two months

VGP - According to the General Statistics Office (GSO), the number of newly founded businesses declined in both February and the first two months of 2019, but the average registered capital per firm increased.

The country saw 5,900 newly established enterprises in February with a total registered capital of VND96.3 trillion (US$4.14 billion), down 41.5% in the number of enterprises.

However, the registered capital of each firm rose 8.8% on average to VND16.3 billion.

In the January-February period, the country witnessed a total of 15,979 newly established enterprises with a total registered capital of 247,400 billion, down 14.6% in the number of enterprises but up 25.4% in terms of registered capital compared to the same period in 2018.
