New Chairman of Party Central Theoretical Council appointed

VGP – The Political Bureau has decided to appoint Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Vice Chairman of the PCC’s Theoretical Council as the Chairman of the Party Central Theoretical Council.

The Political Bureau convened a meeting on March 2 with the attendance of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on cadre work. 

The Political Bureau also decided that Mr. Dinh The Huynh, a member of the Political Bureau, Standing member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council in the 2016-2021 term will leave the posts for pursuing long-term medical treatment.  

Meanwhile, the Political Bureau made a decision that Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Vice Chairman of the PCC’s Theoretical Council will take over the post as the Chairman of the Party Central Theoretical Council in the 2016-2021 period. 

Mr. Thang was born on February 18, 1957 in Thanh Chuong, Nghe An province. 

He was appointed to the Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics in April, 2016 and to the Party Central Committee in October, 2017./.
