As of the end of September this year, eight investors are launching 10 solar power projects at four districts in the province with the total capacity of 808 MW and the total capital investment of VND19,646.4 billion.

The groundbreaking ceremony of Dau Tieng 1 and Dau Tieng 2 solar power plants, worth VND9,100 billion was held on June 23, 2018, which becomes the largest of its kind in Viet Nam and Asia.

Dau Tieng 1 and Dau Tieng 2 solar power plants have the designed capacity of 150 MW and 200 MW respectively, which will become operational in 2018 and 2019.

Dau Tieng 3 solar power plant, with the designed capacity of 150 MW, will be completed in the 2021-2025 phase and the upcoming solar power projects, with the total capacity of 1,500 MW will be operating after 2025.

According to the Government’s targets, solar power is expected to become the main renewable energy source in the future, with installed capacity to be increased from 6-7 MW by the end of 2017 to 850 MW by 2020 (1.6% of the country’s power generation) and 12,000 MW by 2030 (3.3% of the country’s power generation).

One project invested by Tri Viet Tay Ninh Stock Joint Company as Tri Viet 1 with a capacity of 30 MWp, total investment of VND760 billion.

Tay Ninh is considered having the high potential of solar energy with a radiation intensity of 5.1kWh / m2 / day and the average sunny hours per year up to 2,400, very suitable for developing solar power projects, therefore many businesses are interested in investing in this area.
