VGP – As many as 5,291,196 residents aged above 18 in Ho Chi Minh City got first COVID-19 vaccine shots, accounting for 78,9 percent of the city’s population.

The number of residents fully vaccinated reached 210,536, equivalent to 3.1 percent of the southern metropolis’ population, according to the municipal Center for Disease Control (HCDC).

Ho Chi Minh City is currently the biggest COVID-19 hotspot in Viet Nam, with 185,367 cases confirmed since the fourth COVID-19 wave began in the country in late April.

As the city is now ramping up COVID-19 mass testing, it is expected that the daily COVID-19 infection cases will increase in the coming days, said the Center for Disease Control./.
